Jessica L. Black PhD

Director of the Center for Indigenous Health, Culture & the Environment
Jessica L. Black is the Director of the Center for Indigenous Health, Culture & the Environment (CIHCE) and Professor of Environmental Science and Studies. She also serves as the PI for the NSF HSI SAGE grant. Jessica earned a B.A. in Geology from Wellesley College, a B.S. in Geography from the University of St Andrews, a M.S. in Quaternary Studies from the University of Maine, and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Colorado.
Halle Weimar PhD
SAGE Project Coordinator
Halle Weimar is the project coordinator for the NSF HSI SAGE grant. Halle earned her BS and PhD from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Idaho. Halle is a neuroscientist who joined Heritage University due to her passion for teaching and supporting students in their journeys to STEM careers. Outside of work, Halle can be found either reading, writing, drawing, or annoying her two cats, Pepper and Poppy.
Suki Smaglik MSc, ABD
SAGE Developmental Education Support Coordinator
Suki Smaglik is a long-time higher education STEM educator with an emphasis on Chemistry, Earth Science and Outdoor Education. Suki loves rocks and the stories they tell us about the places we live. As a first-generation college student herself, she understands the struggle to belong. Suki looks forward to meeting with students and helping them overcome the obstacles on their journeys to fulfilling careers in STEM. When not teaching, she can be found on a trail with her dogs or reading at home with her kitties.
